Link to Hope
The theme for May on the Link to Hope Calendar is Toiletries – to quote the calendar – Keeping clean is so important -soap/flannel, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes, small scissors. Details of suggested items can be found on my previous years blogs, but I always try and include a few safety razors as it also means there’s something in the family box for the dad of the family and they don’t take up much room. I try and buy the Aldi 3 in 1 hair, body, face wash, it’s cheaper this year than last year currently 49p which is cheaper than any shampoo I’ve found which I put in my elderly boxes.
This year I’ve bought some solid shampoo base so will be trying to make my own solid shampoo bars, which works out cheaper than the shop bought solid shampoo and reduces the amount of plastic packaging.
The Farm Animal Sanctuary
The Spring Open Weekend was good, but fewer visitors came up to the barn area where the stalls were set up, so I didn’t raise as much money for the Sanctuary as I’d hoped.

The Sheepover is on 31 May and the Sanctuary is also open at the weekends for prebooked visits.
This month’s bargain buys
My first bargains were from Hobbycraft – my local store has a clearance section – though some things are still quite pricey or don’t have a price displayed, but I picked up a Christmas Eve box for 50p – great if I start running out of time packing my shoeboxes as it doesn’t need wrapping 😊, and also in Hobbycraft I picked up a couple of small Christmas cross stitch kits for 50p each.
Aldi had a revision pack for 39p, stickers for 19p and reading glasses reduced to 79p with either +1 or +1.5 magnification.
