Link to Hope
The theme for June is gifts for the elderly. The Link to Hope Calendar says, “For older people to use and enjoy – mug, spoon, cutlery, sensory items, reading glasses, head scarves”.
There will be suggestions in my blogs from previous years, but I try and include the Aldi 3 in 1 Hair, Body and Face wash. It says men’s on the bottle but it has a pleasant scent and is a cheap shampoo option. In the elderly boxes I also try and include a hot water bottle – I stocked up in Dunelm’s winter sale, and got a couple of larger ones with covers from Primark and Asda, but if you have a Proper Job nearby, they have small 500ml hot water bottles for £1.20 in stock. The size is great for fitting in a shoebox 😊.
I also try and add a wind-up torch – but these are getting more expensive. Mags sent me a link last year to some bargain wind up torches, so I bought quite a few to last me this year as well.
Remember the elderly boxes should be unisex as they could go to a couple or single man or woman. If I put a brooch in a shoebox I try and make sure I add something like safety razors, or men’s socks or a tie to ensure there is something special for whoever receives the box.
The Farm Animal Sanctuary
The next Sheepover is 28th June – see The Farm Animal Sanctuary website for tickets.
In July the Freedom Fields Festival is taking place 25- 27 July. Food and drinks, live music, celebrity talks, wellness workshops, shopping, kids’ area and of course the 600+ recued animals.
The sanctuary is open most other weekends until late September/October for a visit – tickets also available on their website. https://thefarmanimalsanctuary.co.uk/events/list/

This month’s bargain buys
Tesco had 6 small silky scrunchies for £1.17, and lip gloss for 62p. B&M had 6 knives or 6 dessert spoons for £1.00 unfortunately they didn’t have any forks reduced. Not many bargains this month.
