Link to Hope

This month the focus on the Link to Hope Calendar is stationery items – ‘A gift for everyone – young and old.  Pencils, crayons, rulers, notepads, calculators, notelets.’

There are good deals if you shop around.  Tesco seem to be the best value for biros – 10 black biros, or a pack of 10 assorted biros (4 blue, 4 black and 2 red) are 50p.  Strangely the pack of 10 blue biros are 80p.  Retractable biros are more expensive.  They’ve also got a 30cm shatterproof ruler reduced to 25p.

Poundland or Sainsbury seem to be the best value for pencils.  Poundland have 6 pencils for 30p (5p each) and Sainsbury have 50 pencils for reduced to £2.25 (4.5p each).   Also, in Sainsbury they have a filled pencil case for £2.25 – it seems to contain a blue, black, red and green biro, a couple of pencils, a compass, protractor, small ruler, and sharpener (I’m not sure if they include an eraser).  A clear small pencil case is 50p.

In addition to the HB pencils, Poundland have some A4 drawing pads for 30p and some for 50p.  They also have 20 long pencil crayons for 80p.   B&M have 8 erasers for £1.00.  Poundstretcher have calculators for £1.00, and 2 glue sticks for 69p, but I think you can get the glue sticks cheaper elsewhere.  Home Bargains have 12 felt pens for 59p.

The Farm Animal Sanctuary

Their open weekend is on 6 & 7th September.  I’ve got a stall there on Sunday 7th September to raise funds for them. There’ll be food stalls and craft stalls and chance to meet the animals.

Bargain Buys

Thanks to Mags for the tip about Tesco reducing some of their Keep it Handy Range.  It does seem to vary between stores, but in a couple of stores they had their double packs of playing cards reduced to 50p. packs of 28 Emery Boards reduced to 50p, 4 packs of cocktails sticks (could be used as toothpicks) reduced to 50p, a magnifying glass reduced to 45p (unfortunately I could only find 1) and 2 keyring torches reduced to 45p.

Asda have their packs of 3 reporters pads on special offer at 88p, and B&M have some small candle jars with lids reduced to 50p, and the Works have skipping ropes reduced to 50p.

Till next month
